Boquete is a small town on the Caldera river that runs through the town in western Panama. This beautiful town is known for its cool weather and agriculture. The surrounding Chiriquí Highlands are home to coffee plantations and the Barú Volcano National Park, to the west. Highlights in the park include the towering Barú Volcano and Los Quetzales Trail, which offers sightings of the elusive quetzal bird.
Boquete boasts a very lively music and arts scene. The annual Boquete Jazz Festival and an annual Coffee and Flower Fair, with attractions and beautiful displays of colorful natural arrangements and scents.
The Chiriqui region is home to many communities in need of adequate medical care. As an intern, you will have the opportunity to work with people that are living in inadequate circumstances while surrounded by one of the most beautiful environments in the world!
