Can Tho University of Medicine and Pharmacy (CTUMP) was established on December 25, 2002, based on the Faculty of Medicine-Dentistry-Pharmacy of Can Tho University, which was formed in July 1979.

CTUMP embraces the mission to be a center of education and scientific research responsible for training human resources in fields of Medicine and Health Sciences as well as applying research findings into healthcare services to meet the needs of people in the Mekong Delta and other regions of Vietnam.
